Arriving late at Chișinău Airport: how to collect a rental car

A late flight changes the rhythm of any trip. You may still need to collect bags, find the meeting point and reach your accommodation when most services are quieter.

Planning the vehicle handover before departure is more useful than assuming a car will wait at the terminal regardless of the arrival time. Confirm the exact arrangements with the rental team.

Before boarding your flight

Share your flight number, arrival date, mobile contact and expected luggage volume. Mention whether children need extra equipment and whether your first destination is outside Chișinău.

Ask where to meet, which number to call and what happens if the flight is delayed. Late-night pickup may depend on the confirmed reservation, so request clear written details.

Save the meeting instructions offline.
Keep your phone charged and check roaming or mobile data.
Verify the total rental price and any time-dependent charges.

After landing

Allow enough time for immigration, baggage claim and walking out of the terminal. Contact the representative as instructed instead of rushing to an assumed parking area.

Inspect the vehicle in a well-lit spot, record visible damage and check the fuel level, paperwork and emergency contact before leaving.

Driving safely at night

Download your first route while you have a reliable connection. Check the lights, wipers and cabin controls, and program the destination before you start driving.

If you are exhausted after traveling, consider taking a break. A rental car makes the journey flexible; it does not remove the need to drive rested and alert.

Useful details for this topic

Prepare a delay plan before departure: who to contact after landing, where the representative will wait and what transport you can use if handover needs to be postponed. Immigration and baggage collection can affect the meeting time even when the aircraft lands on schedule.

For a late arrival, confirm how the car will be inspected in good light, whether the selected parking area is accessible at night and what number to call if the phone data connection does not work.
